When is the best time to trim cedar hedges?
For cedars in BC, the ideal time to trim is early summer (June) after the spring growth flush, or early fall (September). We avoid trimming during the intense heat of mid-summer.
How much of a hedge can you cut back?
It depends on the species. Laurels can be cut back hard, but with cedars, you cannot cut past the green foliage into the dead wood, or it will not grow back. We are experts at knowing exactly how much to safely trim.
